History of Furniture Production
Although it is not yet known exactly where and when the first furniture was made, it is thought that it may have been carved from stone, bone or wood in the Paleolithic Age, when people started living in caves. The oldest wooden furniture finds we have date back to between 2700 BC and 450 AD. The reason for this is that furniture is generally made of wood and its lifespan is short. However, in Ancient Egypt, the wooden furniture placed in the pyramids with the mummies has survived to this day due to the suitable environment of the pyramids. In addition to ancient Egypt; There are also examples of furniture from Mesopotamian, Anatolian, Greek and Roman civilizations.

The world's first stone and earthenware furniture was found in Çatalhöyük. Çatalhöyük was discovered by the British Archaeologist Mellaart during the Konya Plain surface survey in 1958, and then excavation started in 1961 under the direction of Mellaart, with the support of the Ankara British Archaeological Institute. In the light of the information obtained as a result of the excavations, it is accepted that this neolithic period settlement is the oldest known settlement. During the excavations carried out here, the room furniture found in the houses in Çatal Höyük, made of soil, plastered and used for sitting or sleeping, is thought to be the oldest furniture examples made of earth. . In addition, the fact that the Mother Goddess statue found in the excavations in Çatal Höyük is sitting on a chair shows that they established a connection between furniture and the gods.
